Shady front garden and driveway

Key Information

  • The front garden is in constant view from the basement kitchen, the sitting room above and is passed each time the family and visitors arrive and leave the property.

  • Client Brief
    • Open canopy and prune shrubs and hedging to increase light and create a sense of space
    • Increasing planted area in the form of ‘rooms’, adding interest with paths, screens, water and movement
    • Planting with year-round structure and interest

Despite having a south facing aspect it is partially shady due to large trees in neighbouring gardens. It had become overgrown, with some plants and the lawn not doing so well due to the lack of light.

“The work the team did was magnificent. The design exceeded the brief with Andy re-using and re-purposing things in the garden with extraordinary imagination. The planting offers colour and texture throughout the year. Highly recommend.”
